Tasting Notes
Nose Raisins, orange peel and baked apple with honeyed malt, dark chocolate, toasted almonds and gentle Oloroso spice.
Palate Rich and layered, with dried figs, orchard fruits and sweet malt alongside cocoa, caramel, roasted nuts and warming spice.
Finish Long and warming, with lingering dried fruit, honey, orange zest, toasted nuts and polished sherry oak.
Glen Elgin 16 Year Old 2009 Adelphi Selection is a mature and elegant Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, independently bottled by Adelphi Selection. Distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2026, this 16 year old release was drawn from single refill Oloroso sherry hogshead #806922, yielding just 235 bottles at a robust 57.1% ABV.
Glen Elgin is known for its soft, fruity and gently waxy Speyside character, and maturation in a refill Oloroso hogshead allows that distillery style to remain clearly defined. The cask adds layers of dried fruit, orange peel, chocolate and toasted nuts while preserving the underlying orchard fruit, honeyed malt and subtle floral character of the spirit.
Bottled from a single cask at high strength, this Adelphi release offers an excellent balance between mature spirit and sherry influence. The refill hogshead contributes richness and complexity without overwhelming the whisky, resulting in a layered and characterful expression with plenty of fruit, spice and classic Glen Elgin elegance.

Glen Elgin
La distillerie Glen Elgin, conçue par Charles C. Doig et fondée en 1898 par William Simpson et James Carle, se situe à Fogwatt, près de la ligne de chemin de fer du Morayshire, au cœur même du Speyside, berceau du whisky de malt écossais. Dotée de six petits alambics et de six cuves à serpentin en bois, Glen Elgin compte parmi les rares distilleries à perpétuer cette méthode de refroidissement traditionnelle, conférant à son whisky un caractère unique. Bien qu'une grande partie de la production de Glen Elgin entre dans la composition des assemblages White Horse, la seule cuvée officielle de la distillerie est le Glen Elgin 12 ans d'âge. Des embouteilleurs indépendants, tels que Coopers Choice, Cadenhead et Signatory Vintage, proposent d'autres single malts très appréciés des amateurs de whisky du monde entier.
