Nishinomiya Distillery

Nishinomiya Distillery, located northwest of Osaka on Japan’s main island of Honshū, was a pioneering site in Japanese whisky production. Equipped with continuous Coffey stills, it produced both malt and grain whiskies, including the iconic Nikka Coffey Whisky. These stills were renowned for crafting spirits with exceptional smoothness and complexity. In 1999, the historic Coffey stills were relocated to Miyagikyo Distillery, continuing Nishinomiya’s legacy of excellence. While the distillery itself is no longer operational, its contributions to Japan’s whisky heritage remain significant and celebrated worldwide.
