Springbank 1996 Vintage Single Cask #263

Selected by Stuart Robertson (Distillery manager) this single Fino sherry cask number 263, yielded 610 bottles. A limited edition bottled in 2009 for Hanseatische Weinhandelsgesellschaft a famous German wine and spirits merchant. The cask and bottle numbers are printed on the neck of the bottle. Springbank Springbank Distillery was established in 1828 in Campbeltown at the foot of the Mull of Kintyre on the west coast of Scotland. Springbank produces three different types of single malt whisky Hazelburn which is non-peated and triple distilled, Longrow which is highly peated and double distilled and Springbank which is medium peated and partially triple distilled having been distilled two and a half times. Barley is spread across traditional malting floors at Springbank where it germinates and is then dried on the perforated floor of the malt kiln. Springbank Distillery welcomes visitors and offers distillery tours. This Fino Sherry Cask gives an initial burst of refreshing citrus and sweetness which draws you into the dram as the nose develops to reveal rich, powerful aromas reminiscent of toffee, treacle and liquorice.
