La Girafe Chic 28 Year Old 1997 Murray McDavid Mission Gold is a rare and mature blended malt Scotch whisky, independently bottled by Murray McDavid for its prestigious Mission Gold collection. Distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2026, this 28 year old release is understood to contain whisky sourced from Glenmorangie, although the distillery name remains undisclosed on the label. Matured in a combination of Margaux wine and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, it was bottled at 52.9% ABV, with just 573 bottles released.
The long maturation brings together mature Highland malt character with the contrasting influence of fine French red wine and rich PX sherry oak. The Margaux casks contribute dark berries, plum, tannic structure and gentle spice, while the Pedro Ximénez casks add raisins, figs, chocolate and treacle. Underneath sits a refined, fruit-driven malt character, giving the whisky depth, richness and an elegant balance between mature oak and sweet wine influence.
At 28 years old, La Girafe Chic offers considerable complexity while retaining impressive strength and concentration.
