Tasting Notes
Glen Ord 16 Year Old 2009 Signatory Cask Strength is a richly sherried Highland single malt Scotch whisky, independently bottled by Signatory Vintage for its acclaimed Cask Strength Collection. Distilled in 2009 and bottled in June 2026, this 16 year old Glen Ord was matured in a single first-fill Oloroso sherry butt #3, yielding 650 individually numbered bottles at a powerful 59.2% ABV.
Glen Ord is prized for its robust, malty and naturally fruity spirit, a character that stands up particularly well to extended maturation in active sherry oak. The first-fill Oloroso sherry butt adds considerable richness, bringing layers of dried fruits, dark chocolate, roasted nuts and warming spice while retaining the distillery's underlying notes of sweet malt, orchard fruit and citrus. Bottled from a single cask at full strength, this is a bold and deeply flavoured expression of Glen Ord. At 16 years old, the combination of mature Highland spirit and first-fill Oloroso oak delivers impressive depth and balance. The high 59.2% ABV carries the rich sherry character beautifully, while a few drops of water should reveal further layers of fruit, malt and spice.
