Tasting Notes
NOSE: Deep and complex. Bosky and mossy, but with hedgerow flora and fruits (brambles, damson jam); sawn wood and minty-fresh pine resin; turned earth; behind this some deep toffee notes (treacle toffee?) and beyond that artist's turpentine, which keeps it fresh and balances the wood. Changes and develops continually. With water, varnish advances (artist’s studio). Some coffee grounds, toffee, warm polythene, baked apple tart (with a scorched crust). Overall, sweet and deep. With slightly more water a hint of soft rubber and a waft of dry sherry. PALATE: Smooth mouthfeel. Fresh wood notes. A hint of sweetness, drying quickly. FINISH: Sharp, well balanced.
Royal Lochnagar Selected Reserve Highland single malt Scotch whisky. Limited release of 3,000 numbered bottles drawn from selected casks held in reserve, to commemorate the day Queen Victoria first visited the Lochnagar distillery in September 1848.

Royal Lochnagar Distillery, originally established by James Robertson in 1823, sits on the southern banks of the River Dee beneath the majestic Lochnagar Mountain, which provides its water from wells on the mountain's slopes. Rebuilt after a fire in 1826, the distillery earned its royal warrant and boasts royal neighbors during summer months. This traditional stone-built, farmyard-style distillery features a malt kiln, pagoda roof, two stills, a red brick chimney, and worm tubs. Renowned for its refined single malts, its core range includes the Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old and Distillers Edition, celebrated for their elegance and depth.
