Tasting Notes
Speyside [M] 18 Year Old 2008 Signatory Exceptional Cask Edition #18 is an outstanding Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 2008 at the undisclosed Macallan Distillery and independently bottled by Signatory Vintage for its prestigious Exceptional Cask series. Matured for 18 years in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts and bottled in 2026 at a powerful 57.1% ABV, this limited release delivers a rich and full-bodied interpretation of mature Macallan-origin single malt.
Released under the discreet Speyside [M] designation, this whisky provides a rare opportunity to experience spirit from one of Speyside's most celebrated distilleries through an independent bottling. The combination of 18 years of maturation and active first-fill Oloroso sherry oak creates the deep fruit, chocolate, nut and spice character traditionally associated with richly sherried Speyside whisky. The first-fill Oloroso sherry butts bring considerable depth and concentration, layering raisins, figs, dark chocolate, roasted nuts and orange over rich malt and mature orchard fruit. Bottled at 57.1% ABV, the whisky retains impressive weight and intensity, with the higher strength carrying the sherry richness while allowing the underlying distillery character to remain present.
