St. Ola® 25 Year Old 2001 Unicorn – 1st Release: The Longship is a rare Orcadian single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 2001 at a mystery Orkney distillery and bottled exclusively for The Whisky Barrel as part of the acclaimed Unicorn Series. Matured in a single hogshead cask #TWB152 and bottled in 2026 at natural cask strength of 53.3% ABV, this exceptional release yielded just 185 bottles. Presented unfiltered and at natural cask strength, it is the first chapter in a new trilogy of mature island single malts. Entitled The Northern Legacy, the trilogy brings together three 25-year-old TWB single casks that matured side by side and reached their peak together. Each whisky offers its own distinct expression of Orcadian single malt while sharing the maturity, maritime character and unmistakable sense of place associated with Scotland’s far northern islands. The first release, The Longship, takes its inspiration from Orkney’s deep Norse heritage. Across restless northern waters came the longships, leaving a legacy that would shape the islands for generations. The bespoke Unicorn artwork reflects that history, setting the tone for a trilogy rooted in Orkney’s landscape, culture and enduring northern identity. At 25 years old, this single cask has developed impressive depth and poise.
