Dalmore Distillery, founded by Alexander Mathieson in 1839 on the northern shore of the Cromarty Firth near Alness, is a hallmark of Scotland’s Highland whisky region. By 1886, renowned whisky writer Alfred Barnard noted Dalmore’s operation with four stills, which were doubled to eight in 1966.
