Tasting Notes
Bunnahabhain (Staoisha) 12 Year Old 2013 Infrequent Flyers is a distinctive peated Islay single malt Scotch whisky, independently bottled in 2026 for the Infrequent Flyers series. Distilled in 2013, this 12 year old release was drawn from single Chinquapin oak barrel #802697 and bottled at a robust 54.4% ABV. Staoisha is the name used for the peated style of spirit produced at Bunnahabhain Distillery, offering a very different character from the distillery’s traditionally unpeated house style. Expect earthy peat smoke, maritime freshness and coastal salinity, with the Chinquapin oak adding extra layers of vanilla, caramelised sugar, spice and toasted wood. The use of Chinquapin oak gives this single cask release a particularly distinctive profile. Known for bringing bold oak spice, sweetness and structure, the barrel complements Staoisha’s smoky Islay spirit with notes of vanilla, cinnamon, charred oak and dark caramel. Bottled at 54.4% ABV, the whisky retains excellent intensity and texture while remaining balanced and expressive.
