The Isle of Islay is home to nine working distilleries, renowned for crafting some of the world’s finest peated single malts as well as distinctive unpeated whiskies. On the south shore, you’ll find Ardbeg, Laphroaig, and Lagavulin, while Bunnahabhain and Caol Ila sit along the northeast coast. Over on the west coast, Bowmore and Bruichladdich—famous for producing heavily peated expressions under the Port Charlotte and Octomore labels—share the landscape with Kilchoman, creating a rich tapestry of whisky styles that solidify Islay’s status as the premier destination for smoky Scotch aficionados.
