The Distillery

1860년대부터 1955년 폐쇄될 때까지, 포스 양조장은 스코틀랜드의 유명한 로우랜드 위스키 산지인 알로아 인근 캠버스에 위치한 노스 오브 스코틀랜드 증류소 부지에서 운영되었습니다. 1957년, 양조장 건물은 조지 크리스티와 노스 오브 스코틀랜드 증류 회사(North of Scotland Distilling Company Ltd.)에 인수되었고, 이듬해 스트라스모어 증류소로 탈바꿈했습니다. 초기에는 포트 스틸 2개와 코피 스틸 1개를 사용하여 몰트 위스키 생산에 집중했지만, 재정난에 직면하여 1960년 연속식 증류기 3개를 도입하여 그레인 위스키 생산으로 전환했습니다. 1964년 노스 오브 스코틀랜드 증류소로 이름을 바꾼 후 수요 감소로 어려움을 겪다가 결국 1980년에 문을 닫았고, 부지는 1993년에 철거되었습니다. 오늘날 노스 오브 스코틀랜드 증류소는 스코틀랜드의 풍부한 위스키 유산에서 중요한 한 장을 보여주는, 사라진 로우랜드 그레인 위스키 증류소로 기억되고 있습니다.
