Campbeltown, on Scotland's Kintyre Peninsula, once had 34 distilleries but now hosts Springbank, Glengyle, and Glen Scotia, producing Scotch since the 1800s, including heavily peated styles.

The Highland whisky region lies north of a Greenock-to-Perth line, dividing Glengoyne Distillery. It’s home to iconic distilleries like Dalmore, Old Pulteney, and Blair Athol.

The Island Scotch whisky region includes Orkney, Arran, Jura, Mull, Skye, and Lewis & Harris, featuring Highland Park, Scotland's northernmost distillery, near Kirkwall.

Islay's eight distilleries, including Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Kilchoman, Bunnahabhain, and Caol Ila, produce renowned peated and unpeated whiskies.

The Lowland whisky region is generally considered to include distilleries which sit south of an imaginary line running from Greenock to Perth.

The Speyside whisky region generally includes distilleries in the valley of the River Spey; however, those lying within the entire watershed of the river are often included.
