Tasting Notes
Nose: Clove-studded orange aromas combine with sweet red apple and a hint of grapefruit. Butterscotch develops alongside subtle cocoa powder and mature oak. Tatse: Sweet, smooth citrus fruit flavours are balanced by buctle black pepper. Poached pear comes to the fore, leading to walnut and subtle marzipan. Finish: Full and spicy finish with lingering ainseed.
St. Magdalene 40 Year Old 1982 Private Collection (2023) is a majestic Lowland single malt Scotch whisky from the revered St. Magdalene Distillery, which closed in 1983. Distilled on 1st July 1982, this venerable whisky matured gracefully for four decades in a single refill American hogshead (#2100). Bottled on 6th February 2023 by Gordon & MacPhail, it forms part of the Private Collection – Lost Distilleries Recollection Series #2.
