Tasting Notes

Hunter Laing Tasting Notes: A rich, intense nose of prunes, raisins, tobacco, and dark chocolate. Red fruits, pepper and oak on the palate, leading into a long, lingering finish. TWB Tasting Notes: Nose: An inviting bouquet of rich dried fruits—sultanas, dates, and figs—melds with notes of dark chocolate, orange peel, and a whisper of roasted almonds. Palate: Luxurious and full-bodied, the palate unfolds layers of sherry sweetness with flavors of toffee, spiced apple, and fruitcake, accented by hints of cinnamon, clove, and a touch of oak. Finish: Prolonged and warming, leaving a lasting impression of sweet spices, dark cocoa, and subtle oak tannins that gracefully fade.

The Distillery

Tamdhu
Tamdhu Distillery, founded in 1896 in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region, began production in 1897, designed by the renowned Charles Doig. Originally equipped with two stills, capacity expanded to four in 1972 and six in 1975 to meet the growing demand for Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark blends, where Tamdhu was a key component. After closing in 2010, along with Scotland’s last working Saladin malting boxes, Tamdhu was purchased and re-opened by Ian Macleod Distillers in 2012. Its celebrated single malts include the Tamdhu 10 Year Old and Batch Strength expressions.
