1998 vintage single sherry cask bottled 2011 from the Duncan Taylor NC2 range. Distilled two and a half times and peated to 12-15ppm.

This one is a cracker - aromas of porridge and marmalade.

Springbank

Springbank Distillery was established in 1828 in Campbeltown at the foot of the Mull of Kintyre on the west coast of Scotland. Springbank produces three different types of single malt whisky Hazelburn which is non-peated and triple distilled, Longrow which is highly peated and double distilled and Springbank which is medium peated and partially triple distilled having been distilled two and a half times. Barley is spread across traditional malting floors at Springbank where it germinates and is then dried on the perforated floor of the malt kiln. Springbank Distillery welcomes visitors and offers distillery tours.

Nose: Toffee, initially meaty, some sage notes followed by orange peel and tarragon. There is also some homemade strawberry jam.

Taste: Dried fruit mix, raisons, saltiness and a little ginger. Soft hint of peat but you need to look for it all. Smoothed in marmalade with faint hint of mint and sauce.

Finish: Quite oily, lots of heavy fig like notes and a barrel of toffee.
