TWB Tasting Notes:
Nose: A rich and complex aroma greets you, combining sweet notes of honeyed vanilla and butterscotch from the bourbon casks with dark fruits like raisins, figs, and dates from the sherry influence. The subtle inclusion of rum casks introduces hints of tropical fruits—think ripe banana and coconut—adding an exotic layer. Gentle wafts of coastal sea breeze, briny undertones, and a touch of earthy peat smoke round out the intriguing nose.
Palate: Full-bodied and robust, the palate is a harmonious blend of flavors. Initial sweetness of caramelized sugar and toffee transitions into spiced fruitcake, dark chocolate, and candied orange peel. The rum cask influence brings forward notes of molasses and a slight nuttiness. A peppery spice from the oak interplays with Springbank's signature maritime brine and a gentle smokiness, creating a well-balanced and multifaceted tasting experience.
Finish: Long and warming, the finish is characterized by lingering notes of dried fruits, salted caramel, and a soft peat smoke. Hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of oak tannins provide a satisfying conclusion, leaving a pleasant, slightly dry aftertaste that invites another sip.
