Royal Brackla 9 Year Old 2013 “King Charles In the Oak” is a vibrant and characterful Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled by James Eadie for their Small Batch series. Distilled in 2013 and matured in a combination of first fill bourbon casks and re-charred hogsheads, this expressive release was bottled in 2023, delivering a bold yet balanced Highland dram with depth and texture.

This unique bottling features the “King Charles In the Oak” label, illustrated by James Hutcheson, inspired by the historic pub once owned by James Eadie. The cask combination enhances Royal Brackla’s naturally fruity and refined spirit—bourbon casks add vanilla sweetness and orchard fruit, while re-charred hogsheads bring structure, spice, and toasted oak character.

The Distillery

Royal Brackla
Royal Brackla Distillery, founded in 1812 by William Fraser in the grounds of Brackla House near Nairn, holds a prestigious place in Scotland’s whisky history. Its still house, overlooking a picturesque line of three ponds, creates a stunning reflection on calm days. Awarded the Royal Warrant by King William IV in 1835, it is one of only three distilleries to bear the "Royal" title. Believed to be a component in Andrew Usher’s first legally blended Scotch in 1860, the distillery’s releases include the Royal Brackla 12, 16, and 21 Year Olds, celebrated for their elegance and heritage.
