North of Scotland 40 Year Old 1973 vintage Highland single grain Scotch whisky. Single hogshead #10232 cask bottled March 2014 by Douglas Laing & Co. for the Director's Cut series.
North of Scotland
North of Scotland Distillery near Cambus was originally Strathmore malt whisky distillery which was converted to a grain whisky distillery in 1960 and renamed North of Scotland. Closed in 1980 and demolished in 1993, some warehouses remain in use.
Nose: Opens with butterscotch and warming spices (cinnamon!) on the nose then runs to a toasted coconut style.
Palate: Deliciously sweet – caramel on rich vanilla ice cream – and runs to sweet mocha.
Finish: Very more-ish – still sweet and carries a late tobacco quality..
