Tasting Notes

Nose: Waves of vanilla fudge, coconut macaroon and orange blossom drift over honey-glazed cereal, pineapple chunks and a whisper of sandalwood. Palate: Silky layers of toffee crème brûlée, banana bread and sweet grain coat the tongue, followed by cinnamon stick, almond brittle and soft oak char. Finish: Long, satin-smooth and gently warming—lingering demerara sweetness, mellow oak spice and a final flourish of candied citrus peel.
Discover silky Lowland elegance in North British 31 Year Old – 1993 Vintage, Lady of the Glen. Distilled in Edinburgh and laid down in a single refill ex-bourbon barrel (#52734), this single-grain Scotch rested for over three decades before being bottled at natural cask strength in March 2025. Un-chill-filtered and natural in colour, only 113 individually numbered bottles reveal an opulent medley of vanilla custard, exotic fruit and polished oak—a refined echo of Scotland’s largest grain distillery.

The Distillery

North British
North British Distillery, founded in 1885 by Andrew Usher, John M. Crabbie, and William Sanderson, is a historic Lowland whisky distillery located in the Gorgie area of Edinburgh, Scotland. Established to ensure a steady supply of grain whisky for cordials and Scotch blends, the distillery features four Coffey stills producing grain spirit at 94.5% ABV with multi-million litres annually. Most whisky matures in central Lowland racked warehouses, while select casks age for at least eight years in Dunnage Warehouse No.1. Although official releases are limited, exceptional single malts are available through independent bottlers like Hart Brothers and Hunter Laing. North British Distillery remains a cornerstone of Scotland’s esteemed whisky industry, celebrated for its quality and tradition.
