Tasting Notes
Speyside (Macallan) 18 Year Old 2008 is an exceptional Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, selected and bottled by Signatory Vintage as Exceptional Cask Edition #17. Distilled in 2008 at the undisclosed Macallan Distillery and matured for 18 years in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts, this limited release was bottled in 2026 at a powerful 57.1% ABV. Combining mature Speyside spirit with intense sherry cask influence, it is a richly flavoured expression created for Signatory Vintage's prestigious Exceptional Cask series. Released under the Speyside name, this whisky originates from Macallan, a distillery with a longstanding reputation for producing rich single malt particularly well suited to sherry cask maturation. The first-fill Oloroso butts deliver generous layers of dried fruits, fruitcake, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, and warming spice, complemented by the whisky's rich malt character and mature oak. At 18 years old, the result is a powerful yet beautifully integrated sherried Speyside single malt with impressive depth and complexity.
