A limited edition 2008 Friends of the Classic Malts release (FOCM), each bottle is individually numbered. A twelve year old 1995 vintage matured exclusively in European oak.
Lagavulin Distillery was established in 1816 by John Johnston on the rocky south coast of the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland. In 1908 Malt Mill Distillery was built next to Lagavulin Distillery but it closed in 1960 and although some of its buildings remain Malt Mill is now a lost distillery. Lagavulin is a malt whisky distillery which welcomes visitors at the Lagavulin visitor centre and offers distillery tours and participates in Feis Ile, the Islay Festival of Malt and Music, and sponsors the Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival.
Sweet, smoky saltiness embraced by a meaty richness. Delicious, drying finish. Richer texture than the annual Special release twelve year old.
