Tasting Notes

Nose: Billows of hearth smoke and sea-spray mingle with vanilla pod, toasted coconut and a drizzle of raspberry coulis. Palate: A bold surge of charcoal embers, briny toffee and liquorice root floods the tongue, chased by crème brûlée, cinnamon bark and a bright lift of candied citrus. Finish: Long, smouldering and gently drying—lingering camp-fire ash, salted caramel and a final flourish of spicy oak sweetness.

Celebrate Kilchoman’s spirit of experimentation with the Kilchoman 7 Year Old – 2018 UK-Exclusive Single Cask, STR/New French Oak #238. Distilled from 100 % Islay-grown barley and filled into an STR-treated new French-oak cask (shaved, toasted & re-charred) #238, the whisky slumbered beside Machir Bay for seven years before being drawn at natural cask strength in April 2025. Bottled non-chill-filtered and natural in colour, only 280 bottles were reserved exclusively for the UK market. Expect classic Kilchoman coastal smoke super-charged with waves of vanilla cream, toasted spice and sweet red-berry depth from the freshly rejuvenated French oak.

The Distillery

Kilchoman Distillery, founded by Anthony Wills in 2005, is beautifully situated at Rockside Farm near the historic Kilchoman Cross and Kilchoman Church on the west side of Islay. As the island’s newest and most westerly distillery, Kilchoman specialises in producing exceptional single malt whisky through a field-to-bottle process, malting barley grown in Rockside fields and using pure local Islay water. Operating with just two small stills, Kilchoman is one of Scotland’s smallest working distilleries. Distinguished bottlings include Kilchoman Loch Gorm and Kilchoman Sanaig, highly prized by whisky enthusiasts worldwide.
