Invergordon 50 Year Old 1964 vintage Highland single grain Scotch whisky. Single cask #11047 bottled November 2014 by Hunter Laing & Co. for the Sovereign range. 252 bottles.
Invergordon Distillery was established by Invergordon Distillers Ltd in 1959 at Invergordon on the Cromarty Firth in Scotland’s Highland whisky region. Invergordon opened in 1961 and supports The Invergordon Distillery Pipe Band. A single Coffey Still was increased to three in 1963 and an additional and much larger column still was introduced in 1978 in order to produce neutral spirit. Ben Wyvis malt distillery was built in its grounds in 1965 although it closed in 1976 and was demolished in 1977.
A golden whisky with a sweet nose of vanilla followed by shortbread, rhubarb and apples. The palate is light with almonds, chocolate and gentle fruit notes leading to a long, dry finish.
