Invergordon 47 Year Old single grain Highland Scotch whisky. 1965 vintage single refill barrel #9459 bottled 2013 by Douglas Laing for the Clan Denny series.
Invergordon Distillery was established by Invergordon Distillers Ltd in 1959 at Invergordon on the Cromarty Firth in Scotland’s Highland whisky region. Invergordon opened in 1961 and supports The Invergordon Distillery Pipe Band. A single Coffey Still was increased to three in 1963 and an additional and much larger column still was introduced in 1978 in order to produce neutral spirit. Ben Wyvis malt distillery was built in its grounds in 1965 although it closed in 1976 and was demolished in 1977.
Full – round – citric and warmly spiced on the nose as it opens – warming to a light oaky and corn quality. Its palate has an opening hint of liquorice – moving onto a complexity of grain, vanilla and brown sugars – all of which are replicated on the – all too short - but typical - finish.
