Invergordon 40 Year Old 1974 vintage Highland single grain Scotch whisky. Single cask refill barrel #10577 bottled December 2014 by Douglas Laing & Co. for the Xtra Old Particular series. 171 numbered bottles.
Invergordon Distillery was established by Invergordon Distillers Ltd in 1959 at Invergordon on the Cromarty Firth in Scotland’s Highland whisky region. Invergordon opened in 1961 and supports The Invergordon Distillery Pipe Band. A single Coffey Still was increased to three in 1963 and an additional and much larger column still was introduced in 1978 in order to produce neutral spirit. Ben Wyvis malt distillery was built in its grounds in 1965 although it closed in 1976 and was demolished in 1977.
NOSE: Rich & creamy with hints of golden syrup, hazelnuts & just-picked raspberries
PALATE: A slight spiciness, honeycomb with ginger & lashings of dark fruit coulis
FINISH: Medium long, with a slight hint of liquorice, butterscotch & condensed milk
