Tasting Notes

Nose: Salty sea breeze meets dried apricot, caramelised almond and a hint of strawberry tart, backed by vanilla fudge and polished oak. Palate: A burst of toffee apple, juicy sultana and malted biscuit glides across the tongue, followed by Marsala-driven notes of spiced raisins, candied ginger and a bright citrus lift. Finish: Medium-long and gently drying—lingering sweet-and-salty malt, toasted hazelnut and a final flourish of soft oak spice.
Taste coastal Speyside through a Sicilian lens with Inchgower 13 Year Old – 2011 Vintage, Signatory Cask Strength. After initial bourbon maturation, this lively spirit was reracked into a 1st-fill Marsala Hogshead (Cask #109), then bottled at natural cask strength in April 2025. The wine-cask finish adds sun-baked berry sweetness and gentle spice to Inchgower’s trademark briny, nutty malt. Just 306 individually numbered bottles were released, non-chill-filtered and natural in colour—offering a bold marriage of shoreline freshness and Mediterranean richness.

Why We Think You’ll Love It:

  • Finished in a vibrant 1st-fill Marsala hogshead, fusing Sicilian dessert-wine richness with Inchgower’s seaside snap.

  • 13 years of ageing balance youthful energy, coastal salinity and opulent fruit depth.

  • Bottled at natural cask strength (non-chill-filtered, natural colour) for maximum texture and flavour intensity.

  • Limited to only 306 bottles, making it a rare treat for collectors and fans of wine-cask-treated single malts.

Enjoy this distinctive Inchgower for its captivating interplay of maritime briskness and indulgent Marsala sweetness—an unforgettable dram from first nose to lingering farewell.

The Distillery

Inchgower
Inchgower Distillery, founded by Alexander Wilson in 1871 as a successor to his Tochineal Distillery, is strategically located just south of Buckie in Scotland’s prestigious Speyside whisky region. Situated near the historic Inchgower Coaching Inn, the distillery benefits from its prime location on the mill lead, which channels pure, soft spring water from the Burn of Buckie to the Mill of Buckie, ensuring the highest quality water for whisky production. Additionally, Inchgower’s convenient proximity to the road leading to Buckie Harbour and the Buckie Railway Station facilitated efficient transportation and distribution of its spirits. In 1966, the distillery significantly expanded its production capacity by increasing its stills from two to four, enhancing its ability to meet the growing demand for high-quality whisky. Today, the majority of Inchgower Distillery’s malt whisky is dedicated to premium blended Scotch whiskies, contributing to some of Scotland’s most renowned blends. With its rich heritage and unwavering commitment to excellence, Inchgower Distillery continues to be a vital contributor to the Speyside whisky landscape, celebrated for its role in both single malt and blended whisky markets. Whether blending for iconic brands or maintaining traditional distilling practices, Inchgower Distillery remains a cornerstone of Scotland’s esteemed whisky industry, attracting enthusiasts and connoisseurs worldwide.
