The Imperial 30 Year Old 1990 is a rare Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from the long-lost Imperial Distillery. Distilled in 1990 and matured for three decades in a single bourbon barrel (#7531), it was bottled in October 2020 by Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers for the acclaimed Celebration of the Cask series. With only 135 bottles produced, this single cask release is a remarkable example of Imperial’s refined, fruit-forward style, preserved from a distillery that no longer exists.

Why We Think You’ll Love It

  • Distilled at the closed and demolished Imperial Distillery—a rare Speyside icon

  • Matured for 30 years in a single bourbon barrel (#7531)

  • Bottled October 2020 by Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers for the Celebration of the Cask series

  • Extremely limited release of just 135 bottles worldwide

  • A long-aged Imperial single cask offering exceptional maturity and balance

The Imperial 30 Year Old 1990 Celebration of the Cask is a truly rare collector’s whisky. With three decades of maturation, exquisite balance of fruit, honey, and oak, and the legacy of a lost Speyside distillery, it is a dram that embodies both history and luxury.

The Distillery

Imperial
Founded in 1897 by Thomas Mackenzie, the historic Imperial Distillery was expertly designed by renowned architect Charles C. Doig and strategically located in Carron within Scotland’s prestigious Speyside whisky region. To honor Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, a magnificent golden crown was placed atop one of Imperial’s two malt kilns, symbolizing the distillery’s grandeur and significance. Equipped with four massive stills, Imperial produced exceptional single malt Scotch whisky until its closure in 1998. The distillery was ultimately demolished in 2013, but its legacy endures with the establishment of the new Dalmunach Distillery on the same site in 2015. Today, rare releases of Imperial malt whisky continue to be celebrated through independent bottlers like Signatory Vintage and Gordon & MacPhail, featuring prominently in their esteemed ranges. This enduring legacy ensures that Imperial Distillery remains a cherished name among whisky enthusiasts and collectors, highlighting its significant contribution to the rich tapestry of Scottish whisky heritage.
