First release for the limited edition Orcadian Vintage Series. The 1964 is is a combination of only two refill hogshead casks.
The packaging for this series is spectacular, with aheavy oak box featuring Viking design marquetry wood inlays and a handcrafted silver amulet on the front.
Highland Park Distillery is the most northerly malt whisky distillery in Scotland and the closest Scottish distillery to the Arctic Circle. Highland Park was established in 1798 and is one of the few Scottish distilleries which continues to malt barley on its own traditional malting floors and to use locally cut peat from Hobbister Moor in its malt kiln. The distillery visitor centre welcomes visitors and offers distillery tours.
Nose: Redolent of toasted oak, dried strawberries andshellac with a generous coating of beeswax. Palate: Delicious sweetnesscombined with a fascinating spiciness; crushed black pepper, crème brûlé andtoasted vanilla pod add to the complexity. Finish: Rich, long, lingeringspiciness completes the sensational tasting experience of this venerable singlemalt.
