Glenugie 1970 vintage Rare Old Highland single malt Scotch whisky. Lot RO/12/03 matured in a re-made American hogshead, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for the Rare Old Series. 150 bottles.
Glenugie Distillery was established in 1831 as Invernettie Distillery and renamed Glenugie in 1837 then substantially rebuilt with local red granite in 1875. Glenugie Distillery was situated just south of Peterhead in Scotland’s Highland whisky region and produced malt whisky for blending. Closed in 1983 and the few remaining warehouses have been converted to workshops.
Nose: Rich with orange, aniseed and a touch of beeswax. Followed by hints of juniper berries, peach, maple syrup and dark chocolate.
Taste: Chilli spice with hints of orange and raspberry. Cocoa bean and praline flavours linger.
