Glenmorangie the Taghta Highland single malt Scotch whisky. Double matured in Manzanilla sherry casks.
Glenmorangie malt whisky Distillery was established in 1843 by William Matheson at Morangie Farm where distilling had been practiced as early as 1703. Glenmorangie is situated on the shore of the Dornoch Firth at Tain in Scotland’s Highland whisky region. Tall gin stills were installed rather than shorter whisky stills when the distillery was established and so Glenmorangie has ten of the tallest whisky stills in Scotland standing 5.14m tall. Glenmorangie Distillery has a visitor centre which offers distillery tours.
Aroma: Curiously nutty and salty, reminding you of Brazil nuts embedded in toffee, hints of linseed oil, some savoury cured ham, dried fruits, tangy-orange, and a gentle reminder of Christmas incense and spice.
Taste: A delicious primary flavour of caramelised orange and lemon, plump sultanas, a hint of brown sugar, followed by a wave of salty, briny notes – olives, salted cashew nuts and some nice, toasty oak flavours, like walnut and leather.
Finish: Rich, mellow and soothing, with flavours of toffee, caramel, chocolate and dates.
