Glnelossie single cask #7061. Berrys' Own Selection bottled 2007.
Glenlossie Distillery was established to the west of Fogwatt in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region by John Duff in 1867. A private rail line opened in 1896 to connect Glenlossie with two neighbouring distilleries which enabled efficient movement of good between distilleries and gave Glenlossie Distillery access to the Morayshire Railway and hence speedy connections with the wider world. Glenlossie’s six stills produce a light malt whisky which is used primarily in the production of Diagio’s blends of scotch whisky.
The 11-year-old cask strength release gives beautifully clean floral fruity and spicy notes with an element redolent of hot-cross buns. The grassy, malty flavours are backed by a sinewy texture. A spicy dry finale makes this a very suitably aperitif.
