Tasting Notes

Nose: Perfumed waves of rose-petal syrup, wild strawberry conserve and Manuka honey drift over wax-polished oak, soft sea-spray and a hint of candied orange peel. Palate: Velvet layers of raspberry coulis, Turkish delight and vanilla fudge glide across the tongue, balanced by liquorice root, ginger spice and a subtle coastal salinity. Finish: Long, warming and satin-smooth—lingering notes of rose-hip jam, toasted almond, gentle oak tannin and a final whisper of salted caramel.

The Distillery

Glenglassaugh
Glenglassaugh Distillery, a prestigious Highland malt whisky distillery, is beautifully situated at Sandend Bay near Portsoy on the scenic Banffshire coast. Boasting breathtaking views north over the Moray Firth and the North Sea, Glenglassaugh is one of the few truly coastal Highland distilleries in Scotland, offering a unique maritime influence to its whisky. Established by James Moir and officially opened in 1875, the distillery has a rich heritage in Scotch whisky production. In 1959, Glenglassaugh underwent substantial rebuilding and successfully reopened in 1960, only to face closure in 1986. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, the distillery resumed operations in December 2008 and is now proudly owned by Brown-Forman of America. Today, Glenglassaugh continues to craft exceptional single malt Scotch whiskies, blending traditional distilling techniques with modern innovation, making it a beloved choice among whisky enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. Whether admired for its stunning coastal location or its dedication to quality, Glenglassaugh Distillery remains a cornerstone of Scotland’s esteemed whisky landscape.
