Tasting Notes

Nose: Lush pineapple compôte, candied lime peel and golden syrup intertwine with polished oak, soft beeswax and a teasing coastal brine. Palate: Silky floods of molasses toffee, ripe mango and coconut cream glide across the tongue, enlivened by vanilla pod, ginger warmth and a subtle maritime salinity. Finish: Long, warm and satin-smooth—lingering notes of rum-soaked raisin loaf, mellow oak spice and a final wisp of salted caramel.
Embark on a tropical‐coastal odyssey with Glenglassaugh 41 Year Old – 1974 Rare Cask, Rum Hogshead #1282/1. Filled during the distillery’s golden seventies and drawn in September 2015, this spirit reposed for over four decades in a single Caribbean rum cask perched beside Sandend Bay. Only 184 bottles emerged—this being Bottle #1—each released at natural cask strength, non-chill-filtered and natural in colour. The long union of Highland malt and rum-soaked oak layers sun-ripened fruit, demerara sweetness and a whisper of sea-spray into a dram of rare elegance and exotic depth.

Why We Think You’ll Love It:

  • Single rum cask rarity—only 184 bottles worldwide, with this edition proudly numbered #1.

  • 41 years of maturation marry Glenglassaugh’s honey-malt purity with the exotic sweetness of Caribbean rum wood.

  • Bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill-filtered and natural colour, preserving every layer of texture and coastal complexity.

  • A collector’s treasure that fuses Highland shoreline elegance with decadent tropical richness—perfect for enthusiasts of long-aged, out-of-the-ordinary single malts.

Indulge in this majestic Glenglassaugh and taste four decades of time, tide and rum-cask alchemy—an unparalleled dram destined for the most discerning collections.

The Distillery

Glenglassaugh
Glenglassaugh Distillery, a prestigious Highland malt whisky distillery, is beautifully situated at Sandend Bay near Portsoy on the scenic Banffshire coast. Boasting breathtaking views north over the Moray Firth and the North Sea, Glenglassaugh is one of the few truly coastal Highland distilleries in Scotland, offering a unique maritime influence to its whisky. Established by James Moir and officially opened in 1875, the distillery has a rich heritage in Scotch whisky production. In 1959, Glenglassaugh underwent substantial rebuilding and successfully reopened in 1960, only to face closure in 1986. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, the distillery resumed operations in December 2008 and is now proudly owned by Brown-Forman of America. Today, Glenglassaugh continues to craft exceptional single malt Scotch whiskies, blending traditional distilling techniques with modern innovation, making it a beloved choice among whisky enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. Whether admired for its stunning coastal location or its dedication to quality, Glenglassaugh Distillery remains a cornerstone of Scotland’s esteemed whisky landscape.
