Enter the pantheon of sherried majesty with Glendronach 40 Year Old – 1972 Vintage, Batch 7 (Cask #710).
Filled on 15 May 1972 into a lone Oloroso sherry butt and nurtured in the distillery’s cool dunnage warehouses for four decades, this Highland masterpiece was drawn at natural cask strength in October 2012. Bottled non-chill-filtered and natural in colour, only 356 individually numbered bottles reveal an opulent tapestry of dark fruits, polished mahogany and rancio-tinged spice—Glendronach’s storied sherry style at its most regal.

Why We Think You’ll Love It

  • Single-cask pedigree: full-term maturation in an Oloroso sherry butt (#710) delivers unrivalled dried-fruit richness, chocolate depth and exotic spice.

  • 40 years of dunnage slumber polish the spirit into layers of mahogany, honeyed resin and elegant rancio complexity.

  • Bottled at natural cask strength (non-chill-filtered, natural colour) for undiluted body, aroma and its deep sunset-ruby hue.

  • Part of Glendronach’s revered Batch 7 single-cask series—strictly 356 bottles, an essential treasure for collectors and sherry-malt connoisseurs.

  • Exemplifies the distillery’s hallmark balance of dark fruit, polished oak and warming spice at its most luxurious and age-defining.

Pour a measure of this distinguished Glendronach and savour an unforgettable union of honeyed depth, opulent Oloroso richness and time-honed elegance—an extraordinary dram that lingers long after the final sip.

The Distillery

Glendronach
Glendronach Distillery, founded in 1826 by James Allardice northeast of Huntly in Scotland’s esteemed Highland whisky region, is renowned for its commitment to traditional whisky-making methods and exceptional single malts. Although the malting floors ceased operations in 1996, Glendronach remained the last Scottish distillery to heat its stills directly with flames from a coal-fired furnace until it adapted to new regulations in 2005. The distillery boasts a picturesque setup featuring a traditional cask iron mash tun, wooden washbacks, and four copper stills, all contributing to its distinctive character. Famous for producing richly sherried single malt Scotch whisky, Glendronach offers celebrated expressions such as the Glendronach 21 Year Old Parliament and exclusive single cask releases. Under the ownership of Brown-Forman of America, Glendronach Distillery continues to uphold its legacy of quality and craftsmanship, making it a coveted name among whisky enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. Visitors to the distillery can experience its historic charm and learn about its meticulous production processes, further solidifying Glendronach’s reputation as a pinnacle of Highland single malt Scotch whisky excellence.
