Glenallachie 9 Year Old 2014 is a bold and richly flavoured Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled by Murray McDavid for the acclaimed Benchmark series. Distilled in 2014 and matured in an Oloroso sherry hogshead (#9900113), this limited release yielded just 343 bottles, showcasing the luxurious influence of classic Spanish sherry oak on Glenallachie’s naturally rich spirit style.

The Oloroso sherry hogshead imparts deep layers of dried fruits, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, orange peel, and warming spice, creating a whisky with remarkable depth and maturity despite its relatively youthful age. Glenallachie’s honeyed and robust spirit character perfectly complements the cask influence, resulting in a full-bodied and highly rewarding Speyside malt. Bottled without chill-filtration or added colour, this is a modern sherry cask whisky packed with flavour.

The Distillery

Glenallachie
Glenallachie Distillery, located on the eastern edge of Ben Rinnes Mountain in Scotland’s prestigious Speyside whisky region, is renowned for its picturesque setting, often nestled within the snowline and exposed to the natural elements. Designed by architect William Delmé-Evans, the modern yet aesthetically pleasing distillery seamlessly blends contemporary architecture with the rugged beauty of its Highland surroundings. Commissioned in 1967 with two stills, Glenallachie expanded to four stills in 1989 to accommodate the growing demand for its distinctive Glenallachie malt whisky, a staple in many renowned whisky blends. While official distillery releases are limited, independent bottlers such as Signatory Vintage and Cadenheads offer a more extensive range of Glenallachie single malts, making them highly sought after by whisky enthusiasts and collectors. Glenallachie Distillery continues to uphold its reputation for quality and craftsmanship, contributing significantly to both single malt and blended Scotch whisky markets worldwide.
