Tasting Notes
GlenAllachie 19 Year Old Masters of Wood Ex-Solera Sherry Cask is a rare and luxurious Speyside single malt Scotch whisky created under the direction of Master Distiller Billy Walker. Bottled at 50.0% ABV, this exceptional release forms part of GlenAllachie’s prestigious Masters of Wood series, showcasing the distillery’s meticulous approach to cask selection, maturation and wood management. For this special edition, Billy Walker selected venerable casks that had previously matured fine Sherry within a traditional solera system for more than 55 years before beginning a new chapter at The GlenAllachie. These seasoned ex-solera casks bring remarkable depth and complexity, layering rich dried fruits, warming spice, dark chocolate and polished oak over GlenAllachie’s naturally full-bodied Speyside character. The long history of the wood gives this 19 year old single malt a distinctive richness and maturity. Raisins, figs and orange peel meet dark chocolate, roasted nuts and sweet spice, while the whisky retains the balance and structure needed to keep the cask influence beautifully integrated. The result is a deeply expressive whisky that celebrates the harmony of wood, time and craftsmanship.
