Tasting Notes

Nose: Plush aromas of raisin loaf, fig jam and orange marmalade entwine with polished oak, cinnamon stick and a hint of mocha. Palate: Silky waves of treacle toffee, sweet malt and dark chocolate glide across the tongue, followed by clove-spiked praline, roasted hazelnut and a lift of candied citrus. Finish: Long, warming and gently dry—lingering sherry-soaked fruitcake, mellow oak tannin and a final flourish of vanilla-malt sweetness.

Commemorating Billy Walker’s half-century in whisky, the GlenAllachie 16 Year Old – “Past Edition” pays homage to the sherry-laden style that first defined his reputation. Distilled in 2007 and laid down in a parcel of hand-picked Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry butts, the whisky has spent sixteen years soaking up layers of dark fruit, chocolate and warming spice. Bottled in 2023 at 48 % ABV* (non-chill-filtered and natural in colour), just 4,000 individually numbered bottles celebrate the formative chapter of Walker’s 50-year journey.

Glenallachie Distillery, located on the eastern edge of Ben Rinnes Mountain in Scotland’s prestigious Speyside whisky region, is renowned for its picturesque setting, often nestled within the snowline and exposed to the natural elements.
