Nose Raisins, orange peel and baked apple with honeyed malt, dark chocolate, toasted almonds and gentle Oloroso spice. Palate Rich and layered, with dried figs, orchard fruits and sweet malt alongside cocoa, caramel, roasted nuts and warming spice. Finish Long and warming, with lingering dried fruit, honey, orange zest, toasted nuts and polished sherry oak.

Distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2026, this 16 year old release was drawn from single refill Oloroso sherry hogshead #806922, yielding just 235 bottles at a robust 57.1% ABV. Glen Elgin is known for its soft, fruity and gently waxy Speyside character, and maturation in a refill Oloroso hogshead allows that distillery style to remain clearly defined. The cask adds layers of dried fruit, orange peel, chocolate and toasted nuts while preserving the underlying orchard fruit, honeyed malt and subtle floral character of the spirit. Bottled from a single cask at high strength, this Adelphi release offers an excellent balance between mature spirit and sherry influence. The Distillery

Glen Elgin Distillery, designed by Charles C. Doig and founded in 1898 by William Simpson and James Carle, sits beside the Morayshire Railway in Fogwatt, firmly within Scotland’s Speyside malt whisky heartland. Equipped with six small stills and six round wooden worm tubs, Glen Elgin is among the few remaining distilleries to embrace this traditional cooling method, contributing a distinctive character to its spirit. Although much of Glen Elgin’s output supports White Horse blends, the only official distillery release is the Glen Elgin 12 Year Old, while independent bottlers—such as Coopers Choice, Cadenhead, and Signatory Vintage—offer additional single malt expressions cherished by whisky enthusiasts worldwide.
