Tasting Notes
Glen Elgin 14 Year Old 2012 Lady of the Glen Samhain is a richly expressive Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, independently bottled by Lady of the Glen for its atmospheric Samhain Series. Distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2026, this 14 year old Glen Elgin was matured in a single first-fill Tawny Port barrique, cask #80560, yielding just 296 bottles at a powerful 58.2% ABV. Glen Elgin is known for its soft, fruity and gently waxy Speyside character, making it an excellent match for Tawny Port maturation. The first-fill barrique adds layers of red berries, plum, dried fruit and sweet spice, while the underlying spirit contributes orchard fruit, honeyed malt and citrus. The result is a full-bodied but balanced whisky with rich wine cask character and plenty of distillery personality. This release forms part of the Lady of the Glen Samhain Series, where each whisky is paired with a tale inspired by Scottish folklore and local legend. The evocative labels are created by Edinburgh-based artist and designer Steven Shand, whose intricate artwork and storytelling draw on more than 15 years of experience in the Scottish whisky industry. Together, the whisky and artwork capture the haunting, atmospheric spirit of Samhain and Scotland’s rich cultural past.
