Edradour Ballechin 16 Year Old 2010 Signatory Un-Chillfiltered
Bottle Information
Tasting Notes
Edradour Ballechin 16 Year Old 2010 Signatory Un-Chillfiltered is a mature peated Highland single malt Scotch whisky, independently bottled by Signatory Vintage for its popular Un-Chillfiltered Collection. Distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2026, this 16 year old expression was matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and bottled at 46.0% ABV, allowing the smoky Ballechin spirit to remain firmly at the centre of the whisky. Ballechin is the heavily peated style of spirit produced at Edradour Distillery, offering a markedly different character from the distillery’s traditionally rich and unpeated malt. Maturation in first-fill bourbon barrels adds vanilla, honey, citrus and sweet oak to the earthy peat smoke, creating a balanced combination of Highland malt, bonfire character and bourbon cask sweetness. At 16 years old, the peat has softened and integrated beautifully with the oak, bringing greater depth and complexity while retaining Ballechin’s distinctive smoky personality. Bottled at 46.0% ABV as part of Signatory’s Un-Chillfiltered Collection, it offers an approachable yet characterful example of mature peated Highland whisky.
