Dumbarton 30 Year Old 1987 Sovereign TWB 10th Anniversary is a rare and highly collectible Lowland single grain Scotch whisky from the closed Dumbarton Distillery, bottled by Hunter Laing & Co. for their Sovereign series. Distilled in March 1987 and matured for 30 years in a single refill barrel (#14247), this exceptional expression was bottled in September 2017 as a specially selected exclusive release to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of The Whisky Barrel, with just 160 individually numbered bottles produced.
Dumbarton is one of Scotland’s lost grain distilleries, and long-aged examples such as this are increasingly scarce. Extended maturation in refill American oak allows the whisky to develop a beautifully refined and silky profile, rich in vanilla, coconut, toffee, and gentle spice, with remarkable smoothness and balance.
