Tasting Notes

TWB Tastig Notes: Nose: Opulent and layered, the aroma unfolds with rich notes of black cherries, fig preserves, and date syrup intertwined with chocolate-covered raisins and toasted almonds. As it settles, soft hints of polished leather, antique mahogany furniture, and dried orange peel emerge, underscored by a subtle trace of cigar box and espresso roast. Palate: A velvety, mouth-filling texture leads with luscious flavors of treacle toffee, molasses cake, and spiced fruit loaf. Dense layers of prune compote, dark chocolate ganache, and roasted hazelnuts bring depth, while delicate wisps of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg add structure. A faint thread of espresso bean bitterness and citrus zest provides balance, preventing the sweetness from becoming cloying. Finish: Long, warming, and elegantly drying. The fruity richness slowly recedes, revealing lingering notes of cocoa nibs, sugared walnuts, and a gentle oak spice. A whisper of well-aged leather and a faint echo of dark-roast coffee persist, ensuring the memory of each sip resonates long after the glass is set down.

The Distillery

Dalmore
Dalmore Distillery, founded by Alexander Mathieson in 1839 on the northern shore of the Cromarty Firth near Alness, is a hallmark of Scotland’s Highland whisky region. By 1886, renowned whisky writer Alfred Barnard noted Dalmore’s operation with four stills, which were doubled to eight in 1966. Known for its one-of-a-kind still design, the wash stills feature flat tops while water jackets encircle the necks of the four spirit stills, contributing to the distillery’s distinct character. While Dalmore’s official range—including the 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old, and 18 Year Old—is highly sought after, independent bottlers also occasionally release single cask expressions, ensuring enthusiasts worldwide can savor the unique allure of Dalmore single malt Scotch whisky.
