Nose Raisins, orange peel, polished oak, and dark chocolate with hints of cinnamon and roasted coffee. Palate Rich and oily, revealing flavours of fruitcake, treacle, roasted almonds, sweet malt, and warming sherry spice. Finish Long and warming, with lingering dried fruits, cocoa, oak tannins, and gentle sweetness.

Distilled in 2010 and matured in a first fill Oloroso sherry hogshead (#369627), this limited release was bottled in 2023, yielding just 325 individually numbered bottles.

Known for producing a weighty and full-bodied spirit style, Dailuaine pairs exceptionally well with active sherry cask maturation. The first fill Oloroso hogshead imparts luxurious layers of dark fruits, roasted nuts, chocolate, and warming spice while enhancing the distillery’s naturally rich malt character. Bottled without chill-filtration or added colour, this is a deeply flavourful and rewarding Speyside malt.

The Distillery

Dailuaine Distillery, founded in 1851 by William Mackenzie at Carron in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region, gained historical significance in 1889 when Charles C. Doig was commissioned to design a revolutionary pagoda roof for its malt kiln—the first of its kind, now a symbol of traditional malt whisky distilleries worldwide. Although Doig’s original design was destroyed in a 1917 fire, Dailuaine continues to produce distinctive single malt Scotch whisky, offering both a 16 Year Old expression and special releases, alongside an array of independent bottlings that remain popular with whisky enthusiasts seeking a taste of Speyside heritage.
