Tasting Notes
TWB Tasting Notes: Appearance: Deep mahogany with ruby highlights. Nose: A rich and aromatic nose, with intense notes of dried fruits such as raisins and figs, layered with dark chocolate, toasted nuts, and a hint of sweet spices like cinnamon and clove. The influence of the Oloroso sherry cask is evident, imparting a luxurious depth. Palate: The palate is decadent and full-bodied, delivering a harmonious blend of sherry-soaked fruitcake, dark toffee, and spiced oak. The flavors of rich molasses, dried fruits, and a subtle hint of espresso are beautifully balanced by a gentle warmth and a touch of nuttiness, adding complexity and richness. Finish: The finish is long and satisfying, with the rich, fruity sweetness gradually giving way to lingering notes of dark chocolate, oak spice, and a soft, sherry-infused warmth that lingers pleasantly on the palate.

The Distillery
Craigellachie
Craigellachie Distillery, founded by Alexander Edward and Peter Mackie in 1888 and opened in 1891, anchors the Speyside whisky village that shares its name. Designed by celebrated architect Charles C. Doig, it remains one of the few malt whisky distilleries in Scotland to cool its spirit using traditional worm tubs, contributing to the distinctive, full-bodied profile of its single malts. While the majority of Craigellachie’s output supports famous blends like White Horse and Dewar’s, discerning whisky enthusiasts can discover independent bottlings that showcase the distillery’s unique heritage and architectural significance within the Speyside region.
