Every year a handful of casks are handpicked by Noel Sweeney, Cooley’s Master Blender, that make up around 5,000 bottles of Connemara 12 Year Old that are released on a yearly basis.
This multi-Award winning whisky gives Connemara consumers the ability to taste how extra aging brings out more character from the wood and rounds off the taste of the regular Connemara.
Cooley Distillery was established on the Cooley Peninsular in County Louth in 1987 by John Teeling. Water from the Cooley Mountains is used to produce grain whisky from two column stills in one still house and malt whisky using two copper stills and a double distillation process in a second still house. Cooley Distillery produces both peated and unpeated malt whisky.
Expressive aroma with a vibrant presence of malt and peaty smokiness. The tastes is smooth and melodious with a superb mix of fruit and peat. Strong spice bite in the finish that dominates but doesn't overwhelm the delicious creamy peatiness.
