Tasting Notes
Nose: Billows of kiln smoke and sea-spray meet raisin toffee, orange peel and a hint of iodine-soaked oak.
Palate: A rush of smouldering peat embers, cracked black pepper and liquorice root glides into treacle fudge, fig jam and cinnamon-dusted chocolate.
Finish: Long, warming and gently dry—lingering camp-fire ash, sherry-soaked fruitcake and a final flicker of salted caramel.

Distilled on Islay’s eastern shore, this small-batch single malt spent its life in a parcel of 1st- and 2nd-fill Oloroso sherry butts, then was bottled in 2025 at the range’s trademark 100 Proof (57.1 % ABV). The fresh and seasoned casks drape Caol Ila’s briny, medicinal smoke in sumptuous layers of dark fruit, cocoa and baking spice. Un-chill-filtered and natural in colour, Edition #42 delivers a bold, full-bodied glimpse of sherried Islay intensity.
