Caledonian 39 Year Old 1980 Private Collection is an exceptionally rare Lowland single grain Scotch whisky, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as part of their ultra-premium Private Collection series. Distilled on 3rd August 1980 and matured for nearly four decades in a single refill American hogshead (#92569), this remarkable expression was bottled on 13th August 2020 at natural cask strength, with just 111 hand-blown crystal decanters produced.
Distilled at the now-closed Caledonian Distillery, this long-aged single grain whisky showcases the elegance and complexity that extended maturation can bring. Refill American oak allows the spirit’s natural sweetness to evolve, delivering layers of vanilla, coconut, soft spice, and polished oak, with a silky and refined texture.
