Bruichladdich Octomore 9 Year Old 2016 Single Cask
Bottle Information
Tasting Notes
Bruichladdich Octomore 9 Year Old 2016 Single Cask is an exceptionally powerful Islay single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2026 from a single first-fill bourbon barrel. Released exclusively for the United Kingdom market, this rare Octomore yielded just 228 individually numbered bottles at a formidable 61.6% ABV. Peated to an extraordinary 137.3 PPM, it is a striking example of Bruichladdich’s super heavily peated Octomore style. Octomore is renowned for pushing peat to extraordinary levels while retaining surprising elegance, fruit and clarity. Here, maturation in a first-fill bourbon barrel brings vanilla, citrus, coconut and sweet oak to the intensely smoky spirit, creating a dramatic contrast between powerful peat, coastal freshness and bright fruit. At 61.6% ABV, the whisky delivers exceptional concentration and texture, while the first-fill bourbon cask helps frame the 137.3 PPM peat with sweetness and structure. The result is a muscular yet remarkably expressive Islay single malt, combining smoke, salinity, citrus and vanilla in a highly limited single-cask release.
