Bowmore 45 Year Old 1972 Signatory 30th Anniversary
Bottle Information
Tasting Notes
Bowmore 45 Year Old 1972 Signatory 30th Anniversary is an exceptionally rare Islay single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 1972 at the legendary Bowmore Distillery and bottled in June 2018 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Signatory Vintage. Matured for 45 years in a single refill sherry butt #3882, this extraordinary release yielded just 246 individually numbered bottles, making it one of the most collectible bottlings in Signatory’s anniversary series. Bowmore is renowned for combining elegant peat smoke with maritime freshness, tropical fruit and mature oak, and long-aged examples from the 1970s are particularly prized by collectors. More than four decades in a refill sherry butt have allowed the spirit to develop exceptional depth while retaining the distinctive character of the distillery, with dried fruit, polished oak and dark chocolate layered over soft smoke and coastal notes. The refill sherry cask provides richness without overwhelming the mature Bowmore spirit. Expect a complex interplay of tropical and dried fruits, orange peel, dark chocolate, gentle smoke and old oak, supported by maritime salinity and warming spice. At 45 years old, this is a whisky defined by elegance, maturity and remarkable rarity.
